2024: A Moving Grid

Inspiration motion design challenge

For this project, I was inspired by a piece from Josep Prat Sorolla that I came across on Pinterest. The original artwork featured the numbers "2024" layered with vibrant, dynamic patterns, each animating independently within a structured grid.

I saw this as an exciting challenge—figuring out how to replicate the effect while maintaining the complexity of individually animated patterns. I realised that by creating duplicate compositions, each with its own pattern and movement, I could arrange them strategically and use track mattes to mask each tile accordingly.

From there, I designed a variety of patterns, animated them separately, and assembled the final composition. The result is a piece where every section has its own unique motion while contributing to the overall cohesion of the design.
