Sad Faces
From Flat Design to Dynamic Motion
This piece was inspired by a design I found while browsing Eyecandy.co, created by Ori Toor.
At first, I recreated a similar static design in Adobe Illustrator, intending for it to remain a still image. However, as I worked on it, I became more interested in pushing the depth and dimensionality of the composition. This led me to bring the design into After Effects, where the concept evolved even further.
In After Effects, I experimented with movement, layering, and lighting to give the piece a more dynamic, three-dimensional feel. I also added text and music to enhance the overall mood and atmosphere.
I've included the final animation, along with my initial Illustrator artboard and the original reference image, to show the creative progression of this piece.
Illustrator Artboard:
This was my initial static composition, closely resembling the reference piece. At this stage, I was primarily focused on colour, layout, and shape composition.
Original Inspiration by Ori Toor:
The reference image that sparked this idea. I was drawn to the abstract forms and wanted to explore how I could reinterpret the style in my own way.
